Free track meet for kids comes to Astoria


2015 TrackTown 4A popular free all-comers track and field meet for kids returns to the North Coast Monday, May 15. The meet, sponsored by TrackTown Youth League, features 100-meter, 400-meter and 1,500-meter races, long jump and turbojav for kids ages 7 to 14.


The meet starts at 5:30 p.m. at Astoria Middle School, 1100 Klaskanine Ave.

Day of the meet registration and check-ins begin at 4:30 p.m.


2015 TrackTown 5Tracktown Youth League, presented by Providence Sports Medicine, provides track meets across Oregon. Kids of all abilities are encouraged to participate, including those in wheelchairs.


More than 50 young athletes participated in last year’s meet at Warrenton Grade School, and organizers hope for more participants this year.  


Awards are given at the end of the meet.


The top two finishers in each category will advance to a championship meet at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, held in conjunction with the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
